Sacred Pines Campground is available for self-guided retreats, youth groups and families just looking for a quiet place in the woods. The campground includes the St. Placid Common Building with lounge space and game tables; a central fire pit; an archery range; a paddock for those traveling with horses; and a newly-completed experimental green shower and toilet facility. The campground is a 15- minute walk from the abbey and campers are welcome at the Divine Office and the daily Mass.
Accommodations
At present, accommodations at Sacred Pines include two cabins, a trailer space with an electric hook up, and a tent space.
St. Joseph Cabin has a large deck with a charcoal grill, a bunk bed in the bedroom, and two 8’ by 12’ sleeping lofts. There are 3 propane lights mounted on the walls and the cabin is heated by a wood stove. There is a portable toilet near the cabin.
St. Paul Cabin, which will reopen after renovation in July 2009, is our small cabin with one room with a bunk bed. A propane generator provides electricity for a small refrigerator, a microwave, and a hot plate.
