Fr Bernard

The Very. Rev. Bernard McCoy, Prior

Fr. Bernard is the superior of the Community, the Abbey’s Steward of Temporal Affairs, and the founder of LaserMonks. He also acts as Vocational Director. Fr. Bernard studied at Thomas Aquinas College, and then later completed his theological studies at the University of Fribourg Switzerland and St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minnesota, where he majored in Monastic Spirituality and Spiritual Direction.  His personal interests include aviation and Peruvian Hotblood horses.

Fr Robert Painting

The Rev. Robert Keffer, Sub Prior-Administrator

Before entering the religious life, Fr. Robert studied fine and applied arts and spent many years working in the hotel and restaurant industry. He completed his theological studies at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland; St John’s University, Collegeville, Minnesota; and at the Angelicum in Rome. Fr. Robert majored in Biblical studies. Today Fr. Robert spends most of his time as a painter and sculptor and the chef for special community gatherings. In his spare time, he is a railroad enthusiast whose scale model train collection is now the centerpiece of a local museum.

Fr. Joseph Watson, O.Cist.

The Rev. Joseph Watson

Fr. Joseph is a transitional deacon who will be ordained to the priesthood in the summer of 2009. A native of Quebec, he made his Solemn Profession to the community on January 6th, 2004 and serves the community as sacristan and cantor. Br Joseph is an accomplished woodworker and sculptor and designed and executed the alpine-style retableaux for the outdoor Stations of the Cross between the abbey and the campground.

 

Br. Adam Mathews

Br. Adam is from Rochester, New York. Before entering the monastery he studied forestry and worked for the City of Rochester, specializing in the care of trees. Br. Adam currently manages the Abbey grounds, forestry projects, and Sacred Pines Campground and supervises the abbey’s youth workers and Young Monks program. Br. Adam made his Solemn profession on September 8th, 2006.

Br David

Br. David Klecker

Br. David is a native of Saint Paul, Minnesota. He received a bachelors degree in computer engineering and programming from Purdue University and worked as a computer programmer and as an English teacher in Korea before entering Spring Bank.  Br. David enjoys film, theater, photography, graphic design, film-making, and directing. For the last four years, Br. David has taken the lead in the design of the new abbey psalter and antiphonale. He also designs and creates  videos, brochures and vocational advertising for the Abbey.  Br. David made his solemn profession on August 20, 2009.
