Spring Bank is very much a dog's house. For many years, Luxor, an Egyptian Pharaoh Hound, and Ludwig, a Doberman Pinscher, formed the Abbey’s canine division and selflessly acted as quality control inspectors for our Benevolent Biscuits. Luxor has left us now, but Ludwig still checks the biscuits and gladly samples any other treat.
The comic strip, "Cloister Canines," is the work of Fr. Robert Keffer. Trained in art and comfortable in most media, a few years ago he made a venture into cartooning, showing the life of the house through the eyes of our dogs. Thirty of his strips are archived at ludwigandluxor.com.
Benevolent Biscuits, our all-natural line of dog treats, grows out of our love for animals. Biscuits come in a variety of flavors and we bake them in both large and small shapes, for your canine friends of all sizes.
Your Benevolent Biscuits purchase supports the monastic life at Spring Bank, but, as with all of our products, we share the proceeds with those in need, both locally and globally. We donate 10% of the purchase price of each bag of Benevolent Biscuits to Canine Companions for Independence, a non-profit organization that improves the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.
